Merry Christmas from China! The past few days have not really felt like the week of Christmas, since most people here do not celebrate the holiday. It is growing in popularity, but it is not a big celebration like it is at home.
Since I gave my finals a week early, my students have been having parties in my classes. They get to play games and just have fun before their other finals. I think they like it and it makes things easier for me. I just have to finish up grading one class and then I am set for the semester.
Instead of a lot of presents, people give each other apples. They are often put in a decorative box, whilst others are wrapped. Still others are decorated themselves. I have been given a couple apples by friends and students. Not quite like home, but it is still a nice gesture for the holiday spirit.
On Saturday I leave for three weeks in Australia! I am super exited. I still have to pack, but I am very happy to escape the cold weather for a little while. Although they are definitely not my adventures in China, I will post my trip on this blog.
