I got up extra early to talk with family on Friday, which was Thursday afternoon and evening in the States. It was nice to see everyone again and to talk with those with whom I had not talked for a long time.
I decided to host Thanksgiving, so on Thursday, my day off, I cleaned the whole apartment. All of the guys went out of town for Thanksgiving, so it was just Makenzi and I here in Qufu. We invited a few other people over and we had a potluck dinner. It turned out really well. I made a yellow cake with chocolate frosting that I had gotten in Nanjing. However, I had issues measuring the oil and water, since I do not have measuring cups. I also do not have a big oven; I only have a toaster oven. It worked pretty well in baking the cake.

Done baking before frosting. I forgot to take a picture with frosting.
I also made mashed potatoes, which used a lot of the butter I had bought in Shanghai.
Dining room set-up.
ALL THE FOOD! We had fish, gumbo, potato pancakes, chicken, vegetables, rice, and some other Chinese dishes.
Round one of three.
So much good food and great company. We all hung out for a while afterwards, and then everyone went home happy. It was a nice Thanksgiving away from home.
